How would i got about changing the log book (declaring the engine) if I bought a corsa 2L turbo that was registered as a 1.6 sport.

Is it easy enough to do? (just contact the DVLA)

Do they send out an engineer etc.?

Thanks.

You will need to fill out the log book with new details such as -

Engine Number if you can make it out as the engines are old so proberly worn away

Engine capacity - 1998cc

Think thats it really.

You will need to send that off to the dvla or take it into them and they will update it for you, sometimes they will ask for 'proof' then you will need to get a local garage to check it over and write a quick letter on headed paper to confirm engine is in and safe for use

You fill out section 7 on the log book with engine number, cylinder capacity and date of change and send it to the DVLA. It might be different in NI but I filled in this and they are going to change it for me. They did send me a letter looking for a receipt on headed paper to prove that I bought the new engine oddly but I said I bought it from the scrap yard and there was no receipt so they were happy enough.
If you have a look at the guidence notes booklet that comes when you change the keeper on a log book it says for a decrease in engine cc you need written evidence but for a cc increase no documentary evidence is required. That doesnt seem to stop them asking for proof though.

I got asked for proof of engine being fitted. I called up to ask why, if I was declaring increase in CC.

tbh you're best of getting a local garage to write a quick letter on headed paper stating engine number and CC is fitted into your vehicle.
Saves a lot of time, Took about 5 weeks to get my new log book through with all the messing around.
