Sending emails through windows mail, all outgoing emails use the server relay@o2.co.uk or whatever but it frequently has problems and means i can't send emails for hours at a time (i work from home so its rather a big problem!)
How do i bypass the relay bit? I've tried sending via the server my site uses but it just shows the usual error message 'server not found' pr similar.
Any ideas??

Use a different port number
Some use port 587, but it can vary from host to host. Ask the people your mail is with, see what they say (just tell them access to Port 25 is barred by your ISP)

you should be able to relay your messages through any SMTP server that allows you to. Most will block you unless you're on a trusted range.

Port 26 isn't blocked on O2 Broadband (I use port 26 with my domain's SMTP server because as you say, O2's SMTP server is poo).
