hi guys,
my engine has a slight tap which gets louder and faster with revs. we have just replaced 2 bent valves, is it possible the oil hole on the lobe isn't lining up with the head resulting in it not getting enough oil and therefore causing the tap?

will try and get one tomorrow. when we put the lifters back in we forgot to line up the oil holes on the head to the lifter so im hoping thats the reason its not getting the oil?

does it go off after 3k ish? if so could be belt tensioner really common thon x14xe and x16xe

you may have a stuck lifter or two after the bent valves? its possible that when the valves got bent the lifters where forced right in on theses valves and are now stuck. take the cam cover off and have a look to see if any lifters are lower, softer than the rest or not touching the cam as you turn engine over by hand.

10w 40 and yeah just replaced 4 valves
