Sounds like oil relief valve may possibly be stuck or a dodgy sender in reverse of pump. Id check relief to see if it will slide freely and try another switch if relief is free. Otherwise you may be looking at stripping to investigate further and rebuild or find another engine to replace.

These engines tend to burn a bit that's all. I'd also say you've got a dodgy relief valve but it might too late.

either pumps on its way out or sticking valve. its all well and good cleaning the relief valve , that might cure it for a while but you have to find out why the valve has got stuck in the first place. best take the sump off check for metal filings in the bottom. if there is some you're gonna have to investigate why they are there. changing pump or cleaning relief valve would only be a temporary fix if the engine is shedding metal filings.
