If i try and take off very fast from a standstill....
I take the rpm above 5000 in 1st gear and then put it in second, but the car always lurches forwards as i do it..
Am i being too sharp with the clutch or am i just expecting too much from the gearbox?
Or is it just springy suspension...

should imagine launching it at 5000rpm you prob get just wheel spin, try launching little lower, i have to roll mine off a standstill otherwise it just spins and its all over, 1st 2nd and sumtimes into 3rd(depending on boost)u aint helping the gearbox much in any case, or your clutch. or just dont do it

No, i'm not launching off at 5000, i'm just accelerating in 1st to 500and then putting it into 2nd.

hehe, thought as much.
My quick style works ok at low rpm, but i'm gonna have to be more gentle when reving it high.

tbh it sounds more like your keeping your foot on the throttle or releasing the clutch far too fast when shifting, as I find my cars easier to drive smoother in the high revs rather than low.

lol, like it mate.
Again I'de say bad clutch control, nothing wrong with pelting your car if its warmed up, if you constantly slam it straight away after its cold then the engine wont be warm and you could damage it accelerating up round that but once its at normal idle temp no reason you can't go up round 6500 no problems, in fact i'de probably say its better to regularly use the full range of revs than grannies and birds who drive in no more than 3k revs

i think you're just taking your foot off the clutch straight away, without feeding it out quickly and smoothly.
i had a m8 that drove like that, you could feel the clutch engaging through the whole car, like a thump! he was probably the worst driver i've ever seen!

Quick changed are fine if you do it properly, my changes take a very small amount of time, less than a second for sure, thats for the whole clutch in, gear change, clutch out and power again.
Alright if you learn it and get good at it.
