Hello all
just new to the site and am currently lookin for a 1.6 sport. at the moment i have a Mk6 RS2000 but too hard on insurance and fuel.
Just wanted to ask a few questions on tuning the car. ive been on to mantzel, velos and dbilas websites looking at they're intake manifolds, just wanted to know who is best and do they actually give increases of +20bhp just from a new manifold? Ive seen a few cars on here with both velos and mantzel products and was lookin for ur opinions. was thinkin of going for velos.
Also just how quick is the corsa with say full exhaust, manifold, decat, chip and performance inlet manifold, eg quicker than a 106gti??
any comments would be great cheers lads and lasses

iv fitted 2 of the lexmaul ones, dont work the same way tho and is a direct swop, the lexmaul item works by ramming the air down where as the other work by removing the bends in the inlet system and moving the throttle body, this makes it a bigger job, like a good day long job if i remember correctly!

I've used Mantzel with good results
Gave +25bhp with chip in a 1.4 16V
Had to increase fuel pressure

If you want to beat a 106GTI just fit SBD hardware, you can have 200 bhp from a 1.6.
That and some car lighten should be enough for all 106GTI

Only Peugeot sport can do this leve of tuning in 106GTI and it would cost 3 times more

Once you've changed the inlet manifold I cant see any real differences between the 2 engines.
The XE engines are excellent

I raced a 106 GTI before my smash and beat him, i got Mantzel power box, fully-rebuilt C16XE engine lightened and balanced everything, re-bore- oversized
pistons, stage 2 ported and polished head, cat back system, viper pipercross induction kit, magnecore leads spritfire plugs(not that they make a difference), and still have a lexmaul stainless manifold, to go on and a chip to get with a 7750 rev limit

i paid £585 for a C16XE engine, its more expensive than the X16XE cos you have to replace the lower manifold too
I fitted mine myself took me about 14 hours but i was farting about cleaning bits and pieces as i went along, you will do it easy it comes with ok instructions

Velos one is Good, think the power gains are only 2BHP less than mantzel, the mantzel is expensive cos its cast alloy and looks nice but the velos does the same job but looks a bit dodgey,
I would say my cars around 140BHP never rolling roaded it, i have seen similar lesser specs get 160+BHP, so i dont know, when the manifold is on and chip fitted i will let ya all know maybe 150BHP

Oh just to let ya know the engine in my corsa is a C16XE, the engine in a sport will be a X16XE, the C16XE's tend to respond better tuning wise up to a point, then they will be matched, thats why courtney qoute an increase of 20BHP for the X16XE with mantzel and 22BHP for the C16XE with mantzel

Mate that sounds good 140bhp must be pretty sharp in a corsa!!! what can u sit with/beat
i was hoping to get around 140bhp out of a full exhaust system, decat, manifold, chip, ind kit and inlet manifold what ye reckon.
I think the sports have an egr dont they i take it thats why they dont respond as well yeah

my engine mods are this:-
lexmaul inlet, superchip, standard limit, viper inductonkit and a scropion grp a exhaust, that spec gave me 109bhp and 100ft/lb torque, also my engine is a 1.4 16, not a 1.6, engine spec has changed now, to a bfo cat back exhaust, smaller bore, de-cat pipe, supersprint 4-2-1 manifold, and soon a 1.6 engine, hope to see 125 bhp then all being well

i am gonna rev to 7750 ish i got ARP rod bolt fitted so should be safe doing so, i can keep up with a few things i dont make a habit of racing cars i must admit, i got hassled by a convertable Beemer for 4 days running he would drive right up my arse then flash his lights and over take me, i had enough one day he over took and as he went round the bend i though fuck it, caught up with him quickly and took him, he has never done it since LOL

7200 rpm 7300rpm is safe with standard bolts. I rev the car constantly!
But I only use special racing oil
