Car runs fine but it smokes quite bad and sometimes spluters quite bad at low revs tried changing the plugs and it still the same other then that it drives fine

oil stems and rings are quite common on these engines mate,

it's got good compression mate and just changed the head, it's like a white smoke that comes out

i had this aswell. hopefully ive sorted it tho. if you look on the left hand side of the engine block down the side behind the thermostat there is a little nipple that a spade conector on the end of a wire should go on. this can become loose or even come off completely. so squash the end of the spade conector with a pair of pliers. (the end that the cable comes from or u wont get it back on the nipple)
then push it back on the nipple and push it till it wedges into the squashed end.

if i was you id try that first as it is free.
if your car takes ages to warm up it could be the thermostat as mine was doing this aswell.

see if your car doesnt get to temprature or the snesor doesnt tell ur ecu the engine is at the right temprature the car will overfuel.

ive recently rebuilt my engine aswell so i was bricking it abit incase it was the headgasket. well ive only done this today so i will see tomorrow if it has sorted it as it does it more when its been stood awhile and its cold.

I don't have the temp senser connected atm didn't think that would mess anything up?

im pretty shure it sends info to ur ecu to adjust the fuel/air mix when it is cold/warm

i dnt know. mine is doing the exact same thing. i changed the thermostat and sorted out that cable and it seems ok now.

Also thought to say I had the inlet off to day and there was oil in the tb and inlet? :S

yes mate if ur cts isnt conected it wont run right! get that sorted and ul be fine!

Is the cts the the thing this 1 wire going to it? :S

The 1 wire is what tells you the temperature on the guage on the right of your clocks. The cts goes into the thermostat housing and has a plug on it.

the problem sounds like cts to me, yer have a little look at them both, if there not connected, connect them or replace them and should be good to go mate

Mine done this only last week mate, went to Vauxhall got a CTS for a 10er and fitted it, 5 minute job bud

just replaced it abit better but theres still gray/white smoke? and used 1.0l of oil today... done about 40 miles
