such a small engine with any serious mods dont do a difference with a chip.
inlet manifold, cams, proper filter and exhaust manifold and then the chip might be good. after cams anyway. but do something else before the chip.

get a proper exhaust and good air filter*with heat shield* for start. or at least panel filter + decent ducting for airbox.
then like cams, mild ones. if you get more hungry, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold.

but with 1.2 be careful cos inlet manifold might drop too much from the downside of the revs...torq and power...

get the whole package. dbilas inlet manifold, the flowtec one.
with dbilas there might even be cams*or chip* + inlet manifold.
with flowtec there is good gains.
http://www.dbilas.de/English/dbilas.html

or mantzel packages.

the dbilas inlet mainfold gives 25 bhp increase, thats 100 bhp for starts, + exhaust system and decat = 105/7 bhp (ish) your talking GSI performance...

Then cams, chip etc and you may be looking over 112/5 (ish) bhp...

anotherwords your 1.2 will now be beating GSI's, beating VTRs, etc...

Manztel have made a prototype Supercharger for the 1.2 16v - which they said will take it to around 115 (ish) bhp.

and I think they want to shift it cheap because of lack of demand!

Then if you do inlet mainfold, cams, chip etc on top your cars gonna be pretty fast!

All up to you on how much you want to spend, I must admit it'd be more fun to be beating fast cars and when they ask what it is - you say a 1.2

Paul_J , do you have any idea what engine is SXi 1.2 16v? isnt there 2 models of these engines or just one?

so this dbilas is really fitting in one?

or its like x16xe and c16xe, some parts will fit both?

dbilas inlet manifold+chip wiht it is in euros 1100 and in pounds ruffly £660, depending whos selling it...
this is for the 1.2,and its +- 25bhp.

check http://www.dbilas.de/English/dbilas.html

and flowtec is the name of the inlet manifold.
they also make cams, chips and stuff...

Juha - theres the X12XE and Z12XE (or something like that... X is in the B Z is the C, both engine's look identical and are supposedly both 75 bhp (proven by people on the site) so I'd guess both fit both...

S/C Kit - (takes to 115ish bhp) - £1000 - however you may be able to knock them down in price if you blag a bit (i.e. say you'll promote the product because you know loads of people will want it when they see you with it... etc )

Flowtec Inlet Mainfold - 100 bhp is around £750 I think, but once again I don't know of anyone with this and you could possibly blag some money for being the first.

the cams - probably around £300 ish (guess) at a cam kit inc valve springs etc...

chip - £350 (guess again) - Dastek's Uni Chip is said to be best.

Decat Exhaust system - £300ish...

The thing is, if you market yourself as wanting to be the fastest 1.2 in the country - then you have a unique selling point that may guarentee you a feature and get them some publicity - so you may blag free stuff / big discounts.

no u wont, end of the day wot r u guna be pushin out? 110bhp?? you;d be pushin out similar times to gsi, maybe a bit less depending on how those mods effect torque.

even if u get a 0-60 in the 9's (which is still slow) its still guna be slow 0-100
