when my headlights are on and im indicating when the indicator switches back off the mainbeam headlights come on sometimes. i think its the switch thats faulty but has anyone had this problem before?

yep, i took out the high beam fuses and left them with normal headlights and sidelights. annoying though when you want to flash someone to let them go.

Common fault on all Vauxhalls of this vintage. Replacement indicator stalk solves it.

cheers folks for all the help. any idea how much a new stalk is?also does the steering wheel need to be removed to do it or can it be done in place?

can be done in place, a bit of trim round the steering wheel has to come off but thats only a couple of screws

i had this exact problem and solved it by pulling the rubber away from round the end of the stalk and then jamming a screwdriver in and prodding around with the switch. never had any problems since
