whats quicker in gear?
i had equal acceleration up to 100mph with a 1.7 dti from about 30mph onward (from a roundabout).
i wasn't sure which was supposed to be faster both defo bootin judging by the puffs of black smoke out of the back of his DTi.
not sure if i should be proud or not i know its turbo'd, but i thought i could beat it, easily, i only had the edge when we went over a 100.
so whats faster (is my 1.4 performing well or poorly)???

My Dad has the 1.7Dti Sxi, and I have the 1.2 Sxi. His Dti feels faster, but in a race they are about equal, the advantage it has is at lower revs it pulls more, so if you see someone racing you in a deisel, change down gears quick.

yours has 90 brake, this 75 brake. but diesels it all about torque, not power. td's are a lot quicker once they are moving, its just getting them movin which is why they have slow 0-60. esspecially up hills the diesel should be quicker, but off the line petrols are quicker.
