My girlfriend has a corsa c 1.2, 52 plate.

Gear 1 and 2 are now getting harder to get nito, so iassume the gear selecter is on its way out as i have heard that it is a common thing to go wrong on these models.

What is the actual part that needs replaceing, is it under the gear lever or on the gearbox itself. How much would i expect to pay at a garage to get it fixed and how hard is it to do yourself.

My dad knows how to fix most things, but we dont know the actual part in question

Milage between 30-40k?

Its the linkage thats gone mate, common fault on the early models, was a design fault by vaux, they charge about £150 for a new linkage But you can buy them on ebay for abot £40

If your dad is good with cars then he should be able to fit it no bother Ive done a few now doesnt take long

Na it will be worn thats what happend due to them being made from plastic But they were modified later to metal ones

You can buy repair kits that contain new bushes etc but it will juat ware again in time Best replacing it with a metal 1
