Asked on AOC but no one really knows what the issue is -

Vx Zafira 1.8 Z18XE - completely standard car, 2002 (52) 95000miles - serviced as per the handbook at the local trusted garage

Symptoms
Random idling, between 500rpm - 2000rpm
Drives perfectly fine
Doesnt appear down on power
No strange noises
EML code showed P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor - which I reset and it hasnt reappeared again

Whats been done so far
Garage has looked at throttle body and butterfly valve, say its fairly clean so doesnt need doing
The sensor HAS NOT been replaced yet due to the code not reappearing (garage plugged it in and said no new codes have appeared)

So come on you guys, what do you reckon can be done next, bearing in mind Im 50 miles away and no one in my family pokes around engine bays, so anything suggested will have to be undertaken by someone in the trade

Not long ago, few months I think

Another question, I assume because of this idling problem it stands no chance at MOT time?

I'd say you'd be better still taking off the throttle body and giving it all a good clean. They can look clean from the top but they are always full of gunk, make sure all the pipe are clear. Check there is no vac pipes split/come off aswell.
