I was playing the missus at FIFA, when the commentators and music stopped. Now this has happened before and I know it's because the disc stops reading! However, it never started again.
Turned off the console, and turned it back on and the disc still wasn't reading. Tried two other games and still nothing!
Is this a common problem?
And to anyone who says buy an Xbox, I had one, had ring of death, nae.

Mine did that, Went back cos I got error codes.

I've heard of a few reading errors. But they've just been sent back under warranty. Sony support are fantastic apparently.

The CD still has to be readable even if you did manage to transfer it to the HD as it has to check the disc.
Like said though, phone Tech Support and see what they say

ye i had this watching a blu ray and just stopped working a fault on quite a few apparently with the drive breaking gotta say brilliant service rang them up that night and had a new one by about 12 the next day

although it doesnt have the noise of a disc spinning, you still need the disc in the drive to play the game, so i really dont see any advantage of being able to do that on soap box at all. i didnt bother installing any game as id still have to swap discs to play what was installed.
