Ok i have tried and tried getting this filter off, and really needs changing! any ideas on how I could, the simple grabbing and twisting is not paying off, have had few people try too!
Any tricks to getting this off easier?

if you doesnt have the tool, you might be able to use a belt, but I really never had luck with that - as if the filter is really stuck a belt is not enough, but you should try that first
If it's really just very stuck, and nothing else works - I usually take a screwdriver and a hammer, knock the screwdriver through the filter so that you can twist the filter when you knocked the screwdriver through... then repeat untill you can remove the filter with your hand.

remember a big screwdriver may be harder to knock through, but too small might bend or something, so find a small strong one

You dont need to knock the screwdriver all the way through, just into the middle approx.
If you only knock it through the first layer of metal, you cant get enough resistance to be able to turn the filter.. it all makes sense when your trying to do it, its very easy

Correct, but I find that if you do that the screwdriver turns a bit before actually gripping - if you stab it all the way through it starts to turn as soon as you turn the screwdriver.
