rite well supprisingly the tappets on my xe have gradually got worse and worse to the point were its taking over 15 min to quieten down. ive tried various products to no avail so decided its time to change them.
only problem is i went to the local vaux dealer who told me that the dizzy and coil engines have different tappets?? and the coil ones are discontinued??? which is a problem as mine is a later coil engine.
ive herd alot of people say dont use cheap ebay tappets but where am i ment to get them from if vaux dont sell them? or is it a gud idea to go to solid lifters?
any help appreciated

They are tapping because they are dirty.
Before spending alot of money on new ina tappets take your ones out and clean them see if that fixes them.

taking them out and cleening them is alot of work and time of the road if they dont work as i will have to strip down rebuild, run then strip down and rebuild again.

Not really that much of a big job is it especially if it is going to save you a load of money. You are going to have to strip it at some point either way......
Seriously 9 times out of 10 people replace the tappets when cleaning them would have fixed the problem.
Or spend £150 on some new ones and do the same work
