got my winter car up and running tonight, put some fuel in it and noticed when i brake, i have half a talk, when i move off , i have barely any. im assuming the fuel sender in the tank is playing up. seems like its reading the swish of the fuel in the tank. its literally like a yo-yo

any ideas?

thanks

corsa 1.4 8v . you cant tell how much fuel you have, it never stops moving. even over a slight bump in the road you'll see it move either way

well if its that bad change the gadget inside the tank maybe

or could it be that it just needs a clean out, like the hinge on it is a bit stiff perhaps
not too hard to get to

If the hinge was stiff surely it wouldn't move at all thus constantly show one level of fuel?

not necessarily, could be stuck but when you brake hard all the fuels rushes to the front forcing it up, maybe

take it apart and find out

Then it wouldn't come back down lol as it would be stuck up, loose is more likely the case or fucked or normal, generally happens on most corsa's I've owned just keep a can lol

Infact its most likely the gauge, It should take a while to respond, Pain when you first start.

The sender if anything would be too loose, But not much point in messing around with it.

My car does this but not that bad. It can be just above the red then go up to 1/4-1/3 of a tank.

This happened on my brothers nova, the little sender thing in the fuel tank had worn away in places giving it false readings
