Girlfriends got an issue with her Corsa, she drove it to the shops this morning, everything fine, she left the shops and the speedo needle doesnt move, after about 5 mins of driving the eml light came on..
Now ive had a drive myself of it this morning and drives fine apart from the lack of being able to see how fast your going...
Ive done a quick code read and its throwing up the code 0500 (simtec 56.5 Ecu) which states its idle stepper motor? which i believe is the idle control valve right?
Now surely this would have nothing to do with the speedo?
Im sure its not the clocks themself as everything else works, temp, fuel, revs etc.. Leads me to believe its the speedo sender unit in the gear box.
Anyone have any further idea's?

mine has a problem with the speed sensor too, or the wiring to it, it causes the revs to fall too low when dipping the clutch when you pull up at a junction or something, this also causes codes 22 and 24 (TPS and ICV) even though they are working fine
