Only revs to 4000rpm then its like it hits limiter any ideas?

sounds like a crank sensor fault unless you have x20 engine in which could make it cam sensor fault

Id be 99% sure its the crank or cam sensor.Common problem throughout the VX range.

He hasn't got any fault codes so I assume the EML wasn't on for long enough.

Check your wiring to the crank sensor before replacing it mate.

The route of the wire tends to run on the block and it can wear through or develop a break.

Ok it seems to be reving fine now i did a paper clip test but got no codes but my EM light does come on and go off sometimes
