how do you work this out? because i want to compare:
Corsa SRi 1.4 16v with a Mk5 Astra SRi 1.8 16v
does anybody know how they will compare?

you need the kerbweights, and then you work it out as bhp per tonne

so for my 16v it would be
139bhp & weighs 970kg
(139/970) x 1000 = 143.3bhp per tonne

right, so i need to find out the weight of the astra....... hmm... anyone know where? i had a quick flick throught the handbook but didnt find anything.

No, they're round about 950kgs. It's the Mk 3s and 4s that started to get fat and lardy
