Camper van is en route and it's all freshly painted. Because it's still missing a few windows and the roof isn't in the best condition I've bought a cover for it. Would it be safe to whack a layer of wax onto the van when it arrives so the cover moving in the wind etc won't scratch it?
Just apply a layer of wax and not buff it of before I cover it up? Is that safe? Just some Autogylm stuff?
Thanks

you have to leave it for 48 hours! i had a bonnet bra on my car and wasnt allowed to put it back on for that time, i put it on a week later and it still scratched my freshly painted bonnet! soo be careful what you do

You don't have to leave it for ages at all.
Depends on how they did the job tbh

My painting isn't done in an oven so i advise atleast 2-3 weeks before waxing to let all the solvent ect leave the paint, waxing before this happens makes the lacquer go cloudy...
As said all depends on how it's been painted

I can't not put a cover on it as it has no windows at the moment. It's not water tight! It'll have been inside for nearly 2 weeks by the time it comes.

I had mine painted in a body shop and ovened. Had the lower sills stone chipped too and was advised 48 hours before washing it. 1 week before fitting skirts and polishing it and 2 week before pressure washing it

My boss polishes cars hours after being clear coated and sends them up to the pakis to get power washed immediately after

you could tape plastic over the windows. i wouldnt want to risk scratching fresh paint with a car cover tbh
