Right so ive had a look and there seems to be a mass of wires going all over the place.

Is there any quick and safe ways to disconnect the wiring, but still leave it in place just incase??

The ball part of the towbar can be removed from underneath as its only 2 bolts, and the rest will still be hidden.

It'll only really need to go to one of the light clusters for most of the wiring and the other side for indicators.

Do you want to recover all the parts or you going to leave some in there?

I was going to leave the main mounting stuff on, as it looks to be a bumper/exhaust off job to fully remove it. And having it fitted might come in handy some day.

Ive had a look behind the clusters and can't see where the wiring goes so im assuming its been tapped in further down the line, behind trim panels etc.

In which case leave it tucked away behind the bumper. Its safe enough if the socket has the cover on it and you secure it out of the way.

I thought the socket was attached to the ball part but just been for a look and its only held on by 3 nuts.

I will just remove that and cable tie it up behind the bumper.

Cheers.

Yeah electrics is normally on an individual plate behind the towball.

If its done correctly there is a plug on the vectra loom to connect the tow bar electrics to. It's sort of in the centre of the boot inner panel if you look down at the latch if that makes sense?

From looking underneath, that's where the cable runs to so there is a very good chance its been plug and play.

Good shout, will remove that panel tomorrow and have a look.

The plug and plays are generally quite an expensive loom, as it'll make things like brake assist and other towing trickery work so you don't really want go cutting it.

We're talking £60 vs £14 or so.

If its not Vehicle Specific electrics (Plug and play) then it will be behind the left hand trim, right next to the fusebox etc there.

So turns out it has been hard wired in in the centre behind the plastic boot panel. Wiring is a bit dodgy looking so will probably just fully remove it. Rear fog lights don't work so if its not a case of new bulbs then i will need to remove it anyway.
