i've currently got some 13cm coax up front and some decent 6x9s in the back sehfl. I've been thinking of putting 6x9 in the front doors in a home made custom door build. Would this be a good idea for sound or am i best sticking to some 17cm coax's or what?

Don't bother putting 6x9's in the front doors, tehy will cause a lot of vibration and are meant for 'general noise' in my opinion.
Get some good components in there instead! (Infinity)

comps are better than coax as the tweeters are seperate from the main mid woofer, this means u can position the tweeter closer the the listener's ear (which u really need to do to get the best sound).
I think i'm right in sayin' that comps are the more prefered choice than coaxs.

ditch the 6x9s all together!
Front:
Components
Boot:
12" Sub
Amps;
Front: 2 channel, match the rms figures from the comps to the amp.
Rear: 2 channel bridged or mono amp again match the rms figures
Cables:
Always use good quality never use the stuff you get with the equipment.
