Cousin has had no engine in his Corsa B for a week or so due to engine swap, XE for XE.

Came to bleeding the brakes for him saturday and they just will not go solid, vacum assisted or no vacum assist, it ain't happening.

He said they went solid once, and then that was it. Back to soft. I've had a look/feel along the lines I can get to and there seems to be no splits. No fluid leaking and the MC pushes the fluid through as it should.

Are the caliper clips on the correct way and the bleed nipples at the top?

They are indeed mate.

I went round and checked all the obvious things, leaks, tightness etc.

seals damaged in the master cylinder during bleeding? often the MC will still work during the bleeding process but fail under operation and go to the floor.

Maybe Dave.

I'll have to ask him if he undid the lid on the MC reservoiur before pushing the pistons back.

Is there any tell tale signs of a knackered MC Dave?

when you bleed the brakes, are you supposed to take the lid off the master cylinder aswell? or just when you push the caliper back in?

Vaux Lad - I know a bit about brakes, and all the obvious has been checked. Including which side the calipers are on.

supremefaulk - The lid on the MC should be taken off when bleeding and pushing the caliper back.

Its easy dean,

just take the scuttle out, disconnect the brake pipes from the mc/ resorvoir, then there should be 4 bolts holding it to the bulk undo them, disconnect the brake sensor from inside and pull ti through carefully,

PS i have a hole mc/resourvoir/ pedal for sale
