when putting on a new manifold eg janspeed etc whats benefits of either heat wrap or a heat shield ?

heat wrap will keep the exhaust gasses hotter, and hotter gasses move through a tubular manifold faster. faster gasses = less restriction. It will aslo heep the heat in the manifold and not in the engine bay.

Heat shield will just shield the heat from the engine bay and any components in direct path of the heat such as pipes and igniton leads etc...

and can give + 10 bhp this is why hod rodders wrap there exhaust systems
