Hello People

Just done an engine change from x14xe to x16xe and the car is revving upto 3000rpm on idle, we have taken the inlet manifold off and put gasket sealent on to know avail,

any ideas on what it could be?

sounds like an air leak! is the tb definitely closing?

carb cleaner all over the engine! once you hit the air leak the revs will drop for a bit!

throttle body is deffinately closing, lower inlet is about to come off and gonna put gasket sealent on that aswell just too check, not got any carb cleaner atm but using wd40 in it's place, will try that next

looks like it was lower inlet mani gasket, found a chunk missing so put some sealer on it until i can get a new gasket, he's putting it back together now then gonna test it

Cheers mate, yeah i think the engines fine tbh mate, just an air leak somewhere so dont think that you ripped me off ought could be a vac pipe left off

yea i did cheers mate, and no, only saw the 1 key in the ignition but the guy that worked in the garage just said to take the key it wont be needed, if you've got the other key any chance you could stick the chip in an envelope and send it me please?

oh and just spoke to the lad who's trying to sort my car out while im at work, he said it looks like me icv was knackered so thats getting replaced tonight, so deffinately looking like it wasnt your fault

it's already in will be updating the project thread when it's sorted and i've got 5 mins, had to change the engine because the cam belt snapped and thought i might aswell go upto a 1.6

well ive just got home and had a look at the icv and it was completely siezed so fingers crossed it was that its all getting put back together now

which bit did you mean, your mum and dad did say if theres anything you need just take it, but didnt want to take the piss lol, just took engine gearbox, chip transponder ecu and shafts, we were going to leave the shafts aswell but the guy that was there (the guy that runs the garage i think) said that they'd be no use so take them, and you have a u2u mate
