Author help! removing hatch lock barrel

hi when i got my corsa b it had 2 keys so decided to match the hatch barrel to ignition barrel,anyway on with it tonight and ive removed the mechanism from the tailgate but i cant get at the barrel as its stuck in the plastic surround,ive removed the circlip from the end of the barrel and the haynes manual says to use the key and it comes free but its not! lol.anyone done this? any help much appreciated thanks
